Centre Gives is a time during the year when community members come together and support their favorite Centre County nonprofits. During Centre Gives, gifts go further, thanks to the $300,000 stretch pool and an additional $40,000+ in prizes. We compiled 5 tips to help you give back to your favorite nonprofits during Centre Gives 2023 on May 10 and 11.
1. Share Nonprofit’s Posts on Social Media
Your favorite nonprofits are doing great work around the community, whether they are providing housing for Centre County residents or vital physical and mental health services. It’s important that all their work doesn’t go unnoticed, which is why sharing their social media posts is such a great way to help. By getting their mission and impact out in front of your network, you help them reach new people who could turn into supporters of their work, just like you.
2. Spread the Word
Word of mouth is a powerful way to increase awareness about a nonprofit’s impact. In addition to sharing your favorite nonprofit’s posts, help amplify their efforts by telling friends and family about Centre Gives, creating your own social media testimonials, and displaying flyers or other signs of support. We have a Centre Gives toolkit with resources including graphics, printable materials, and more to help you do so.
3. Attend Centre Gives Fest
Centre Gives Fest is an opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate the final hours of Centre Gives. Join the party on May 11 from 5:30-9 p.m. at Talleyrand Park for live music, family-friendly activities, and opportunities to meet local nonprofits. By attending the second annual Centre Gives Fest, you can help your favorite nonprofit win a cash prize!
4. Volunteer
Many of the programs and services provided by nonprofits are supported by teams of dedicated volunteers. Without so many individuals donating their time, life in Centre County just wouldn’t be the same. If you’re looking for a way to get involved with an organization you love, volunteering is a great way to give back. And if you don’t know where to start, check out Volunteer Centre County, a resource that connects nonprofits with the volunteers and goods they need most.
5. Make a Gift
Saving the best for last – a great way to support your favorite nonprofits is by making a gift! With 200 participating nonprofits to choose from and a minimum donation of $10, your gift will go a long way toward supporting the nonprofits that you care about. Centre Gives 2023 will begin on Wed., May 10 at 8:00 am and conclude on Thurs., May 11 at 8:00 pm. Join your community and give a gift that grows at CentreGives.org
Since Centre Foundation launched Centre Gives in 2012, over $14.6 million has been invested into local nonprofits. Last year, $2.1 million was raised to benefit over 200 organizations serving our community in the arts, education, health and human services, the environment, and more.
