For the seventh consecutive year, the Centre County community has broken a Centre Gives record by raising $1,439,585 via 9,503 total gifts in 36 hours.

“Our community continues to amaze us with their generosity year after year,” said Molly Kunkel, Executive Director at Centre Foundation.

Gifts go further during Centre Gives, thanks to a $200,000 stretch pool provided by Centre Foundation and the Hamer Foundation, along with $27,000 in prizes.

Prizes of $1,000 were awarded to the top five large and small organizations with the most unique donors for the entirety of Centre Gives. Large organizations included: Centre County PAWS, Schlow Library Foundation, State College Food Bank, ClearWater Conservancy, and Centre Volunteers in Medicine.

Small organizations included: Centre Wildlife Care, TriYoga of Central Pennsylvania, Bellefonte Art Museum for Centre County, Out of the Cold: Centre County, and Penns Valley Conservation Association.

Power Hour Prizes of $500 were awarded to the large and small organizations with the most unique donors during designated hours. Large organizations included: Schlow Library Foundation, Strawberry Fields, Inc., Performing Arts School of Central Pennsylvania, Centre County PAWS, Discovery Space, and ClearWater Conservancy.

Small organizations included: TriYoga of Central Pennsylvania, Nittany Valley Figure Skating Club, State College Area Roller Derby, Penns Valley Conservation Association, Bridge of Hope Centre County, Bellefonte Art Museum for Centre County, and Mid-State Literacy Council, Inc.

Organizations with endowment funds at Centre Foundation had an extra opportunity to win $500. Winners included: Juniata Valley Council Boy Scouts, Nittany Valley Figure Skating Club, Centre LifeLink EMS, and Spring Creek Chapter of Trout Unlimited.

At the conclusion of Centre Gives, four Last Chance Prizes of $250 were awarded to organizations that had not previously won a prize. Winners included: Alzheimer’s Association, Nittany Greyhounds, Rock Hill School at Linden Hall, and Pets Come First.

Additionally, one organization participating in its first Centre Gives was randomly awarded $250. The winner was Doing Good with Wood.

Pre-event prizes of $250 were randomly awarded to organizations that participated in the March Success Series trainings and Facebook challenges. Winners included: Center for Alternatives in Community Justice, Centre County Library and Historical Museum, CommonFood, Inc., Easter Seals Child Development Center, Strawberry Fields, Inc., Jana Marie Foundation, and Happy Valley Animals in Need.

Since Centre Gives began in 2012, over $8.2 million has been invested into the local nonprofit network, supporting organizations in the areas of arts, animals, education, environment, and health and social services.

Centre Gives 2019 was sponsored by many forward-thinking members of the community, including the Hamer Foundation, Nestlerode and Loy Investment Advisors, First National Bank, M&T Bank, Frost & Conn, The Hartman Group, William H. & Amy Sue Martin Fund, Morgan Stanley, Balfurd Dry Cleaners, and Baker Tilly.
